  • To the guy who wrote HANDLE.EXE, Mark Russinovich, http://www.sysinternals.com (thanks Korry for the pointer) (check out the site for other neat free sw) and APPX Tech support for helping me put the pieces together.
  • To the guy who wrote PSTAT, the NT ResKit utility called to gather the Process Statistics.
  • To Jean Neron for his IMPORT TEXT FILE subroutine which I've only modified slightly. Find this and other neat stuff on the Tips & Techniques pages. Jean's routine makes my kludgey READ FLATTEMP INTO FLATFILE obsolete.
  • To Andrew G. Davidson (info@infradig.com & www.infradig.com) for POSTIE 4.0. The quick and powerful command-line e-mail package used in my HOOK replacement for 0LA PRINT ON SCREEN (EMAIL). Buy it if you’re using it for business use and support independent programming.
  • To Paul Peterson (ppeterson@utahsbr.edu) for the NT batch command tip « %~n1 » which is crucial in REBUILD4.bat
The utility set consists of:

APPX Background Process Control on NT

Similar to the WANG VS Procedure Queue and Background Initiator Setup except that a single "initiator" can only handle one "class" of background process. Used to either force a sequential execution of many jobs in a single class or reduce the number of background processes that may be running simultaneously. CPU use too low to register if no jobs are "in the pipe".
